What a wait, each week goes by and the weather causes cancellation after cancellation. Finally we move to Cavendish but even this was nearly called off by a quick early morning snow flurry. It was cold, but we were playing... my thoughts were on how well would they all remember, "how to play football", could they remember to mark, pass or even score. Well my fears were blown away, every one of them could remember, well with a little bit of encouragement!
From the whistle they all played a storming game, making good use of the pitch, and closely marking. The game went from side to side with very little shooting, until with a good break we hit the post, and confidence was now very high. The second half was very similar, until the last 10 minutes when we seemed to have the upper hand, a few shots were made but none really making the mark. When from a goal kick going over the half way line, cleared most of their players leaving our stickers with a quick burst to the goal area. With simple elegance the ball was played around the keeper and into the nets, we were winning. As normal in this instance, I wanted the ref to call time NOW. But with 5 minutes left we still applied pressure with a few more chances, but I was happy just to keep the ball in their half.
We'd done it. Our first game back and we've won. We are slowly changing our loosing streak into a winning streak. A Fantastic effort from everyone, keep it up.
Come on Hasland
